Good info. I got a smaller version. Now I know that size should work for a larger grill also--just add bricks on top of it. Is that right?

I mean, I appreciated the break down of the chimney and how he gave actual tips on how you can use those design specs for different methods. That was literally the whole point of those few minutes yet it flew over the short attention spanners.

I use the Hay Sacks and wedge them in grate and light from bottom. Easy as pie 🥧. I agree with not using lighter fluid because that’s not good with flavor and chemicals. I recently started using more lump coal then briquettes. Briquettes are for long cooks and lump is high heat fast cooking. I.E. steaks 🥩 burgers 🍔 and so on

Flipping the chimney upside down is also the perfect amount of coal for searing off meats that you've cooked sous vide.

Ditch the charcoal charcoal briquettes and go with the lump. It's the only way to grill.

@D E - I've been mixing the briquette and lump coals for years, it works great for me. I usually start my briquettes in the chimney starter, and after adding them to the kettle; I place the lump on top or mix them together. I also buy those giant bags of lump charcoal from Walmart ($9).

@D E Yeah it's tricky to cook with, I thought about mixing also. I've just been breaking the big pieces up and trying to make it equal for when I do a direct cook. usually I just use a two-zone fire, So cooking is still pretty easy. I'm still not the most experience cook on a grill, so I Just been trying out the best ways to get the meat looking and tasting right.

Chris Tru 30 pounds for 10 bucks it a steal. You get down here in s Texas 15 pounds of royal oak lump for more than ten bucks around 13 bucks . I know lump has is downs, like you get big pieces and small pieces that don’t burn equally like charcoal does. I came up with an idea right now🤔 how about putting some charcoal and then add the lump, half and half ..it’s a little experiment I’m trying.. Of course light the both together. 🤷‍♂️

@D E yeah I got a good deal on lump wood at walmart, A 30lb bag for $10. I only get them because of the additives in charcoal and that good smoke wood flavor, but charcoal burns longer, So it has it's pros and cons. Cherry apple sounds good though. I just started grilling pretty much every day except on days on don't really need the meat that way. I've saved a good amount on my electric bill doing so. I had to be at least $40 or $50 because my bill went down a lot.

Using a paper to light the charcoal, like on the video. Isn't that will produce too much smoke? England houses are quite close to each other and I'm kinda afraid, if my neighbours get fired?

Passion for Art anytime you are grilling, there will be smoke. They’ll be fine. Invite them over to have a plate. Btw I use rubbing alcohol to get the coals ready to use a little quicker. No leftover smell or taste to taint the food.

That a way all the ashes drain down on the base, an try to have your bottom vent and top vent open until your grill gets about 400 degrees then u can close the vents and start cooking

So here's something that a lot of people don't pay attention to, read the ingredients of the char-coal that you are using. I use only real hardwood charcoal. No coal dust at all.

One chimney of charcoal should be enough. If you aren’t cooking as much meat, just light half of a chimney.

Depends on grill, amount, airflow, type and brand. Cout on 30 minutes to 2-3 hours
