That he/she was being taken advantage of... aka abused in the work place... because they were family.

So I worked for a call center that and my department largely dealt with Transport for London and Oyster Cards for Contactless Payment in the Tube system, everyone hated it. They basically forced you to work any day they said with little warning, Schedules were supposed to be prepared a Month in advance, but were rarely ever completed even a week in advance, which was especially difficult if you didn't drive, since public transportation was so bad it would take 2.5-3 hours of travel to get to and from the office. Not only that but the people of London are exceptionally rude and abusive, not that the rules we were forced to follow helped any. Anyway. My office had showers in the bathroom, which was a godsend for me, because as stated before, I didn't drive and using public transport took forever to get anywhere. So my usual routine was to get into the office 30ish minutes early, have a shower, then clock in for my shift. After having enough of their crap I decided they could have a little of mine. So on my last day, I took my shower, then released the largest, Caffeine and Apple Juice fueled shit I had ever had right in the shower. At the time I was the only one who used the mens shower. The best thing is they either never found it or never suspected me for some reason, because it's been about 6 years now and they've never called or anything to give me shit about it (Pun definitely intended) :P

I knew someone who worked for a large plumbing/ heating company. He found out that he was being screwed by the bosses niece, who worked in the office with his bonuses from selling maintenance contracts. How they worked was, who ever sold them, got the contract amount the first month and each year at the roll over time if the customer renewed. these contracts were automatically billed to the customers credit card each month. If you worked at the company very long this could be a nice bonus worth a couple of hundred a month. Over time he discovered that his bonuses were getting smaller. The crap hit the fan one day when he went to repair a customer's furnace who he had sold a contract to years before only to discover he wasn't listed on the contract any more. Upon checking, what the niece was doing, A little at a time, she wouldn't bill the customers at the roll over. She would wait a month or two then call the customer and ask if they wanted to renew. Most did. She would then run them through the system as new and collect the bonus herself. When this was brought to the owner's attention he denied it and refused to check. The revenge, he had a job to do 30 miles away down an interstate from the shop. He had his wife meet him and removed all personal tools from the van . Pulled the van into a mall , opened all the doors, turned on the four ways and emergency lights left the engine running and left. PS about 8 months later the niece was fired for embezzlement. She had set up a fictitious account and paid money to it each month when she paid the bills

with the popcorn dust thing, the masks really should have been required- there's a real condition called 'popcorn lung' that can happen to concession stand and factory workers caused by inhaling the chemical diacetyl (spelling?) that's used in artificial butter flavour for popcorn (it's also why you should avoid butter/cream flavours in vapes, as it's the same chemical)

I once worked for a company that made school-grade electronic products; record players, tape recorders, and some specialized video products; like for ATM machines (this was in the 80's) and those tiny CRT monitors you used to see in cash registers. I was just a tech, not a PHd engineer. They had two products they were having terrible problems with, in terms of reject and rework rates. Nobody could solve these problems; and they were falling far behind on their delivery schedules and one was by far the most expensive and complex product they made. They were in danger of losing the contract and there were nervous meetings among the engineering staff as to what they were going to do. It wasn't especially my job to investigate these issues, nor was I assigned to work on them. But I had some slack time and I just decided to spend a day or two trying to solve the problems. I solved both problems, wrote up a report on both, and proved that my solutions worked (by performing the fixes and placing 10 examples of both units in a high-temp "burn-in" room for 72 hours. A couple of weeks later, the chief engineer called me into his office, acknowledged my work and then proudly offered me a 25 cent per hour raise. I responded by saying "OK, I will be leaving work at 2 pm each day for the next two weeks so I can go find a real job".

When I did phone surveys, I finally reached the end of my tether one day and re-enacted the famous quitting scene from Half Baked. *points to the site manager* Fuck you. *points to the phone quality scorer who had it in for me* Fuck you. *points to the bitch supervisor* Fuck you. *points to the one supervisor who treated me right* You're cool. *points to my bitch co-worker who pitched a fit when I told her she was talking too loud* And fuck you. I'm out!

I had a 2 year contract as a supermarket manager. The owner, a mean old lady, always assured me that I'd get a new unterminated contract and a raise after the 2 years. So of course I get called into the office one day where she and my manager colleague are sitting. Her: "You know why you are here? You will not get a new contract." At which I just laugh. Me: "Yeah, I think I do. In fact, I know I do..." She gets really annoyed "Do you think I'm joking?" (to be fair, this would be a joke she would make) Me: "Oh no, not at all. I know that YOU really think that. But do you remember the mistake in my contract that I pointed out to you twice? It means the old contract was invalid and I automatically got one without termination. So you can't fire me without a valid reason (e.g. stealing etc.)" My colleague had a huge question mark on his face, since he has now idea of the laws or anything important. He had worked there since he was 16. I think he was there as a witness, incase I do or say something stupid. She realized that I was right and tried to call the legal department and her husband. While I was sitting there, offering to continue my work, since I was still legally working there XD It all ended with a nice out of court settlement. And I wasn't allowed into the store for the reminder of my contract (like 6 weeks or so) and therefor got paid for doing nothing.

I worked at a Little Caesers for about 3 years. Over that time, all of my friends and co-workers quit, and were replaced with newer faces. I was one of the few that stayed through it all. Anywho, one day, I just felt like quitting. So I came in, informed my boss that I quit. He said he needed it in writting. This being my first job, I didn't know the etiquette of a two-week notice, nor did anyone else. So, I ask for a piece of paper and a pen to get it in writing. My boss was completely against me quitting. I was one of his best workers, as I knew everything about the place, and was there for so long. He tells me they don't have paper, and the pens are to be used for writing orders only. So I'm thinking to myself "okay, really?" So I go, grab a pen from my car. Then go to the bathroom, and rip out some toilet paper, and write "I QUIT". Then leave it on his desk, and bounce. Over the course of working there, I just became fed up. I was never on the schedule, but worked more hours than everyone else, because I would always get called in. I was ordered as an employee to pick up and drop off other employees because I was one of the few *kids* that worked there, that had a vehicle and a license. Average work days were 6 hours, of which, we never would get breaks, nor lunches. If you took a break, you would get in trouble. One day, after 5 hours, I said to myself "fuck it", and went to the bathroom for a couple minutes. The bathroom was a single room, with a lock on the door. No stalls. The boss and another employee grab a knife, and use the knife as a make-shift screwdriver to unscrew the doorknob from the door, and burst right through. Me, being the young and dumb kid I was did not sue. Thinking back, I should have. I should have taken that straight to a lawyer. If that wasn't bad enough, my manager, and the employee that opened the door showed up at my house, roughly thirty minutes after I had left. Granted, I left in the middle of a shift. These people should have had no idea where I lived. I never took them by my home, I never gave any information as to where I live, so how did they show up at my door? I have no fucking clue. They just shown up, with the purpose of making sure that I don't sue. Not in a threatening manner, more of in a we're all fucked if you do this type of manner.

Having worked at Papa Johns, I can confirm that for some reason, cheese is and will always be the one thing you'll never get enough of on a pizza, no matter the price. No idea why, but I think me always putting a little extra in the measuring cups we had to use was part of the reason my boss didn't like me. Up yours Amy, hope you enjoy your pathetic position at Arby's. Oh yea, the company that owns Papa Johns also owns Arby's.

Tried going the standard route. Sent in my 2 week notice, requested instructions regarding where to turn in my badge and equipment, etc etc. First shift after sending in the email with my notice, one of the supervisors comes into the store my team and I were counting (I worked inventory for a certain 4-letter acronym of a company at the time), and in the most condescending tone she could muster asked where I managed to find work. I just smiled, and said elsewhere. When she pressed for details, I told her "somewhere I'll be making in a week what you make in a month." I knew my supervisors' salaries; the company had tried to promote me in order to stem what I was making on hourly. It is roughly a quarter of what I make now, driving a truck. I'd finally made arrangements for a change of career and tendered my resignation when I realized that they were cutting my hours in retaliation for refusing the salary position, which somehow had a LOWER earning potential. So fuck you, Colette. The look on your face was priceless when I told you I'd be moving above the person who gleefully kept putting me on freezer duty. Guess I'm not worth the nothing you always thought, huh?

@Jackson Pesa oh my fucking god, apparently I must spell this out for you. Just the timeline part, though, because some people are just not worth discussing anything else with, which I really should know by now. 15: stumbles across show, is r/mildlyinterest[ed], makes what I now consider one of the worst mistakes of my life Just about 18: show isn't interesting anymore. Leaves fandom. 20: gets job at 4-letter pos company 21: quits job at pos company, earns CDL and starts driving. What I said no to was your (probably mistakenly) twisted recap of my story. Which I then followed up with corrections to the parts that you had wrong. It was a bit weird, and yes, I consider my time in the fandom to have been a terrible, massive mistake, but it wasn't even half as creepy as you paint it to be There's a bit of spaghetti with the math because odd timing of my departure being just before my 19th and my hiring being just after my 20th, both by the span of a few weeks, but otherwise everything I said was absolutely true
Jackson Pesa
Jackson Pesa 16 दिन पहले
@Mystic Thunder What are you saying no to? that entire timeline have been YOUR excuses thus far. Also You say you left when you were 15 but after your twenty-first you are still in it? Also in another reply you say you "Left a year before your job" and that would be when you were twenty if this story happened shortly after your 21st. This timeline is looking like spaghetti *hmm*

@Jackson Pesa no. I was in the fandom for all of a couple years. Had a rough patch in my life, the show was in season 4 when I joined the fandom. I was like 15. I left shortly before my 18th birthday because I lost interest. The story in my original comment happened shortly after my 21st birthday, and during the time I was in the fandom, I befriended a guy who was later diagnosed with cancer. I don't even know if the guy is still alive, or if he lost his battle. Either way, when I say he made the character, I literally mean HE MADE THE CHARACTER. Like, name and everything. Then basically handed it off to me and said "here, he's yours now." At the time, even I was wondering what the fuck had just happened. EDIT: btw, show had over 100 eps before I started watching it. Regardless, it's not who I am anymore. Was a really weird time in my life, and not one I'm really proud of. That said... yes. I use the OC to be an internet troll when I'm not on duty or driving these days. You'd be surprised how easy it is to get people's heads spinning by using a pastel pony as a pfp. It's fucking easy mode, man. I don't even have to try
Jackson Pesa
Jackson Pesa 16 दिन पहले
@Mystic Thunder Allright let me give you a quickie rundown -My Little Pony, and let me restate that, My Little Pony made up a large portion of your life as a early to late twenties male. -In this period a friend you lost contact with that I can only assume was part of your fandom made you a profile picture and from the looks of it you also gave it a name. -You claim to stop watching the show at what I can assume is 100+ episodes (I am not googling the actual number) and thats where the r/thathappened story pops in. -You continue to use the account in serious discussions as a "troll account" despite putting out content from as far as a week ago. -Get *REALLY* defensive about the picture and your whole account when brought up, as go as far as to acuse a default profile picture of being less professional than *MY LITTLE FUCKING PONY* fRiEnDshIp iS mAgIc. Overall yeah im getting a weird vibe.

@Jackson Pesa not since season 6. I've heard through the grapevine that the show is on its 9th and final season, but I just don't care to go and confirm it. That's not my life anymore. I wasn't joking, though. The OC is a gift from around that time, and I lost contact with the person who made him for me shortly thereafter. I'm not even sure if the guy is still on this Earth, with how badly life was going for him, and that's the main reason I'm still using my old OC. Man was a good person who was dealt one of the shittiest hands I've ever seen. Fuck cancer, you know? EDIT: for context, I left the MLP fandom a good year or so before I got the job that I quit in the story at the start of this whole comment thread

Not a legendary way to quit, but a great way to flip off the boss and give him a heart attack after being fired for pointing out some OSHA and food safety violations. Also not my story, but a friend's. Basically, he just called his sister to ask for a ride after being fired mid-shift from the fast food place he worked at. Sister pulls up in the van she uses for her job as... well, a restaurant inspector working for the state's inspection agency (I've forgotten the acronym it's got over there, but W/E). Said sister was off duty at the time (well, had just finished the last inspection for the day and was headed back to the office), but was more than happy to listen to a report about the place. She showed up again a week later, this time, on the clock, and did a surprise inspection. Her team found enough problems to shut the place down, and in doing so, freed several dozen employees from any restraints they had felt were there on their speaking to OSHA, who did their own inspection.

Looks like the customers didnt get picked up and they all put up bad reviews. a year later i found out the owner sold the company.

I had a pretty bad experience at my first job. Boss was rude to everyone, didn't care who was working on what day, just came in and blamed whoever was there for whatever problem she could think of. Stupid shit like that. Anyway, I was pretty nervous about quitting at the time because I really didn't want a confrontation but that's what it ended with. I sent my boss my two week notice at the end of a shift one night and she seemed annoyed about it, but mostly fine. The next day I had to open shop by myself (like most days) and I had to drain a freezer full of water (I worked at an ice cream shop and there was a "defrosting" process where you'd hose down the inside of a freezer so the ice didn't build up too much along the sides) but the plumbing was shit, so the water didn't drain very well at all. I drained most of it but it took fucking forever to get all the water out. After I finished that, I put the ice cream in the freezer and it was all set like any other day. Except the shitty freezer dumped the water back inside so there was a layer of water below the buckets of ice cream. There were covers for the buckets so no one saw the water filling up again, and I didn't notice it either. So my boss comes in that day and starts acting passive aggressive because she's pissed that I was about to quit. Well, she notices that the freezer with all the water in it is fucked up for some reason so she takes one of the buckets out and sees all the water. She lost her shit right there and picked up a metal scoop and pointed it at me like it was a knife (lol) and told me to get out. That was that. She only really cared about making as much money by upselling customers and barely giving them what they paid for, so I guess that freezer with the water in it cost her something big. I never went back though, so I don't know if that shop is still there or not. Man, that sucked lol but that was my experience.

my story was not really about quitting but still i’m gonna say it. interned at the worst possible AV company in my country. i sat outside the store and was tasked to work there while the rest of the workers got a proper cubicle in the office. my boss was a darn workaholic and would task me to send what seems like a few hundred emails per day, and constantly rub it in my face that the previous interns sent more than i did. not only that, i was made to get coffee for those fuckers, test equipment by this lazy ass fucker who ate shit every 1 hour and then being scolded by my boss for not sending mail. on my last few days there, i did fucking nothing. i even broke a few equipment and kept quiet. no emails sent for days. to add on, i deliberately skipped a few site visits and bullshit my way through it. to end it off, there was a survey by an organisation that manages companies that students intern to. i gave a negative review, and now that shitty company wants their money back. i told them no because i fucking worked for it. and i have the rights to keep the money. fuck you godfrey for making me get coffee, fuck you derrick for always lazing around and scolding me. also fuck you john, i dont care how good the last interns were. eat shit.

I had not been working for about two weeks due to them having not scheduled me, I had filled in for someone the week before but got heat stroke and had to go home. Same thing happened when I quit. I told them it was not working out, and I was quitting. Ok, I wont put you down to work for the next two weeks. Were you even going to? No I was not. Ok, then it works out for both of us.
