Some Samsung Galaxy Fold smartphones are having issues. The Galaxy Fold is likely more delicate than a typical smartphone.

@Lew later , I LOVE SAMSUNG TV’s...but the love affair stops there. You’ve never unboxed a Samsung dishwasher, refrigerator or washing machine on Unbox Therapy, maybe you have those appliances at home though i don’t know. What I can tell you, however, as guy with contractor accounts at both Lowe’s and Home Depot....you stay AWAY from ANY Samsung branded item that contains moving parts! The home center reps have shown me numerous returned Samsung appliances where the the moving parts failed due to OVER-engineering. Samsung has a habit of over-complicating tough engineering problems (or fixing things that aren’t broken) and consumers ALWAYS pay the price when a company does that. When I saw this phone announced I knew immediately that they had done it again. The folding mechanism just looked over complicated from the get-go...it didn’t look right, it felt.....dangerous. I think the additional screen layer is a dubious addition to the problem as well. What happened to the layer that caused those other reviewers to pull it off? Did it bubble up or peel up in a corner like factory applied screen protectors tend to do ? I can’t tell you how many times I’ve bought a piece of tech and ignored the screen protector until bubbles appears or a corner got lint under it and it started to remove itself from the screen. What about those gaps in the hinge that make dust ingress so easy that the Verge had that bump under the screen in their unit ? The waway unit looks sturdier but, like you’ve said...we won’t know till you touch it. I’d be willing to bet it’s a helluva lot less over-engineered than the Samsung and you’ll find pretty novel solutions to the hinge issue that will make you go “that was simple. Why didn’t Samsung just do that “?

200k folds sounds impressive till you realize that people can pick up their phones up to 300 times a day. Let's say you're a heavy user and we knock that number down to 200 because it does have that outside screen for quick access. If you open that phone 200 times a day, it'll be broken within 3 years.

Samsung has released the review samples and has given it to the reviewers... the reviewers managed to breake the phones, revealing the major flow in design and manufacturing.... the oficial phone release has been delayed. So... it’s good! Isn’t it? It is so much better then: „it’s a feature”, „you are holding it wrong”, „the small number of units fails”...

Someone has to say this: folding phone is an incredibly stupid idea. After decades of refinement we received perfect product with perfect form factor and now somehow those companies are willing to move away from this great achievement. Folding phone is a clear step back from the correct direction which entire market agreed on (the final solution is still yet to come). I can't believe anybody can support this idea: it is less reliable for obvious reasons, less elegant and refined, bigger, more vulnerable for mechanical damages and imho plain ugly. It has no utility whatsoever it's just a gimmick and there will be no more folding phones after few quarters of disappointing sales reports. I mean just look at this video it is like the last journey of Fold or wake with the long faces where everybody just realized this idea could not have worked like EVER. Deep down all reasonable people know this is the end.

Naturally glass isn't very flexible. For a foldable screen, the glass isn't the first choice. Also common glass screen is usually more durable to scratches than a common plastic screen. Most mobile phones before iPhone had plastic screens and scratches were common then. But that wasn't something very serious because there weren't many things you could do with a mobile phone except sending SMS and making calls. The buyers of the first Samsung Galaxy Fold are investing for the development of the following cheaper and more durable foldable phones. I don't have a Samsung galaxy fold phone. It is obviously a phone that needs care. It not a phone that you will put in a bag or a pocket which has keys or coins. It is not a phone that you will place it on the sand of a beach. It is not a phone that you will use your nails on the screen. This phone must be babied.

Stop defending a shit product, that's not how you get better products. Don't accept mediocrity, challenge it. Especially when that mediocrity costs you $2,000.

Hey, just so you know, the layer that everyone is talking about. I saw Lew's unboxing video of the Samsung Fold and he literally takes off the "screen protector" in the video. So, the 'screen protector' that everyone's talking about has already been taken off. People need to realize the fact that. why would there be another screen protector under the screen protector that people have already taken off. People are making a big deal about Samsung not disclosing it properly, or at all. But the truth of the matter is, you need to realize that it's not supposed to be taken off, especially after you've already taken the 'screen protector' layering off. FYI.

I kept my screen film on my laptop for years and I let someone type something out and print it. They took the film off and the technology specs of the laptop that I kept on because I liked seeing them. The stickers looked brand new and they even said that it was cool to see those stickers on a older laptop but for some reason they took them off. With my laptop it was a minor disappointment but I am sharing this because if you let someone use your phone to call a tow truck, you may get your phone back broken. This is the stupidest thing i've ever seen. This screen should be glued on alot better at this price. Hopefully they will fix this issue.

I think it’s possible for IN-vid reviewers to intentionally cause issues for views. I remember when Line-x bed liner came out. People would pick at the edge and peel the coating up and then complain saying the product was crap. If I was a manufacturer, I wouldn’t send another product to a “reviewer” if they can’t follow instructions. Otherwise just throw the phone to a hobo and video the results! I personally expect these “reviewers” to be more than a talking head. or does the old adage “any publicity is good publicity?” How do you think manufacturers are going to react? Do these “reviewers” not believe that they are to be held at a higher standard for the privilege?
