I'd like people to stop apologizing for Apple, you still don't get it. They weren't preserving the CPU or the battery! They were slowing down everyone's phone so to force sales of new phones. THAT'S IT. Apple is a predatory company run by horrible people. Those suicide nets are still up at Foxconn at all twelve factories in China. You who justify Apple remind me of the soft language people who call it sexual assault when really it's rape (Donald Trump's 20+ victims). Tim Cook got caught slowing down iPhones and he'll be fine because he got paid $102,000,000.00 in 2017.

There's absolutely zero justification to removing the headphone jack. If you say because of space, Strange Parts did a video of himself reinstalling the headphone jack to the iPhone 7, showing there is enough space in that phone to install a jack but apple decided not to. Plus, I don't think I've ever heard anyone beg for paper thin phones. If anything, at this point most want a thicker device to allow for a larger battery. If you say for water resistance, there's already other smartphone manufactures who include the jack and are able to make the phones just as water resistant, maybe even more water resistant than Apple devices. If you say because the jack is outdated, like Apple did, then you couldn't be more wrong. Sound, which is what our ears intake, is an analog signal. That's why in every device that has digital audio recordings, they use a DAC [Digital-to-Analog Converter] to convert the digital signal to allow our analog devices to play sound.

Im a poor guy so i prefer a phone of good value rather than a phone that is popular or have gimicks. If there are 2 phones, similar specs through out, priced similarly, one has audio jack but is thicker, and one doesnt but is thinner, i would choose the one with audio jack. But its not a fair comparison with my example. Why? Slimmer phone are usually more expensive than a thicker one cos of the additional feature of “thin”. Also, by making a phone thinner, the best compromise area would be the battery. Which then in turns lower the battery capacity as well. So it further explain the point where its better valued to buy a thicker phone with audio jack than a thinner phone without. But of cos if a phone with superior specs, doesnt have an audio jack but somehow still cost way lower appears, i would choose that becos of its value. Although personally, i uses audio jack alot and is one of the features i look into while shopping for a new phone.

Mobile gamers should know that audio jack is way more important than water resistance. People that games over long period of times would need to keep they device charged or powered. Doing so the charging port is taken up. And for people that uses in game voice chat or discord would usually need a headphone to communicate when other gamers. As such you cat nt use the charging port for the headphone if there is no audio jack. Ppl argue that u can use bluetooth headset but the headset first of all, needs to be powered as well so long playing hours wouldnt cut it and most BT headset doesn’t allow charging and playing at the same time as well. Secondly, alot of bluetooth headset will have time delay on live games. Maybe some expensive BT headset doesnt but why pay more when u can achieve a way better solution with cheaper or in this case dirtcheap alternatives. Also, have bluetooth on while playing live games does affect the speed and reliability of the network. Additionally. Similar priced wired headphone is always better than a BT headphones. This “new” option is ultimately adding extra cost for consumers if they want to achieve the same standard of usability while gaming. I personally would prefer thicker phone that have audio jack, maybe even more battery capacity as well than a thin, phone that have lower battery capacity and no audio jack. Of cos, there are many other ppl who dont uses audio jack or battery as much as gamers so these product are targetted more towards them.

Let's follow your logics, Linus... Why the gas stove and oven are going to extinct? well.. because there're new and more efficient techonologies such electric induction and infrared... BUT... the thing is that gas based stoves and oven are PERFECTLY working and effective technologies, just less efficient that newer ones, yes. I could die tomorrow with a smile on my face knowing that I cooked the food that I shared with the people I loved in an obsolete, yet working old technology... you get it? I other words, I don't give a fuck... Paying for a blazing new technology that they say I need is the latest of the latest of the latest of the latest things to do on my list.

Mercantile capitalism, being small in scale, is driven by actual consumer desire, Corporate Socialism is driven by tiny fluctuations in the bottom line, so as a general rule things Corporations make may start out okay but they will inevitably degrade (reduced height laptop screens that use cheapo TV parts, keyboards that you cannot practically type on for long etc.) You can either do things properly or you can do them again and corporates rely on everyone doing the same thing over and over (new model fixes bugs in old model and has new bugs of its own). So producing crap actually boosts sales as the poor consumers try and find their way into that bright shiny advert land they have seen so often on TV

You know what my thesis is? I think the tech companies are getting pressure from music copyright holders to force their audience to use digital connections. Once they're established, they can implement some kind of copyright system with a monitored connection from your device to your headphones/speakers, so you can't easily record the analog signal, just like you can't view BluRays via analog video connections like component video.

Analog vs Digital. Electric guitars? Microphones? Remember Casio and Yamaha dabbling with MIDI guitars? No? That's cos it didn't last long (although I did play smoke on the water on a Yamaha Strat clone in trumpet, so..). Point being. NOBODY complains about analog. Why? Because HUMAN EARS ARE NOT VERY GOOD! Maybe your dog. Maybe he'd have something to say. Please. Give us our f-ing earphone jacks back.

As usual, none of the reasoning for removing headphone jack make any logical sense: 1. Headphone jack is more essential to consumer than waterproofing or 3rd camera. Also, the claim that they removed headphone jack so they can put bigger battery is insulting to anyone who knows how the insides of a phone look like. 2. What if I told you that YOU CAN STILL USE WIRELESS HEADPHONES EVEN IF YOU HAVE HEADPHONE JACK! The only difference is that people who want to use wired headphones are forced to use dongle (which they will inevitably lose) or to buy wireless ones. 3. Wired headphones have advantages in both audio quality, not having to think about signal strength and not having to think about charging their batteries. Quality headphones can work great for years, but batteries are the things that go flat and their life gets really short in a 2-3 years, so when those 2-3 years pass, since they are so small, you probably won't be replacing the batteries (especially not by yourself), but rather throwing them away and buying new ones. I keep challenging anyone to convince me why removing headphone jack is a good thing, and so far no one has gave me any good answer, I was always able to find flaw in their explanation. The reason why it's the trend is simple: Apple wanted some revenue from dat sweet lightning port, and the rest of the market blatantly copied them for no fkn reason, because majority of those Android copycats have neither proprietary port, nor sell wireless buds. Kudos for Samsung for not buying into this ridiculous illogical trend and keep proving how you do in fact have enough space to put a headphone jack and make it even more waterproof, have 5 cameras, big battery, a pen, a heart rate sensor, bidirectional wireless charging, heart rate sensor, etc.
Google can suck my dick, I won't be using your fucking G+. GTFO
I can withdraw 97 of 99 cameras in my phone in exchange for a Jack. I have two in my Honor 8 and it's more than enough.

I admit l listen to music a lot but since l bought AirPods l am not using headphone jack anymore even though iPhone SE has it. And l love Bluetooth. I can leave my phone in the other room or go away and l still be connected. Like in school cafeteria. My schoolbag (with iPhone inside) is literally across the hall when l am standing in line with my AirPods waiting for lunch. Also your wire doesn’t get stuck in door knobs or other items also you don’t pull your phone with you when you stand up and walk away from the table or desk. So yeah l don’t mind companies removing it cuz for me it’s pretty much useless and Bluetooth is the future. And yes l agree AirPods, galaxy buds and even pixelbuds (for very few pixel fans...) are expensive but in time they will become cheaper and better because apple and other companies that removed it push Bluetooth technology forward. And it’s a win win
